Adding Songs in Planning Center

1. Navigate to the "Songs" tab in Planning Center.

2. Select the "Add a Song" button in the far right.

3. For now, you can simply fill out the song title and click "Accept," but if you have more information such as a BPM or song duration. NOTE: The song you are adding may already be in Planning Center's global database. If you type in your song name, you may see results that match up with your song. You can use these as a way to get started, but it is not required.

4. On the next page, you can begin adding keys. It is recommended that you start with the original key as that will be the easiest to find online when searching for chords and lyrics.

5. Select "Save." Then, if you already have a PDF or attachment of the chords and lyrics, you can upload it by clicking the "+" icon next to "Files"

6. If you do not have a chord chart or lyrics, you can find it on websites such as worshiptogether.com or ultimate-guitar.com. To add them in, we will be using Planning Centers "Lyrics & Chords" builder. (See above picture for this button)

7. Next, copy all the lyrics and chords from the web page (in this case, worshiptogether.com) and paste it into the planning center window.

*NOTE: It may take a short time for the right window (a live preview of the finished version) to update. If it does not update, try typing and it should update very quickly.

8. You will notice that the chords are each on there own line. To fix this, move the chord to the start of the word you want it to be placed above. Next, add a " [ " around the start of the chord and a " ] " at the end:

Unfortunately, you will have to do this for every chord, however the benefit of building it out manually in Planning Center is that you can easily transpose to any key you need by simply clicking a button.

9. Once you are done, you can add all possible keys that the song may be played in by exiting out of the builder (click the back arrow icon "<") and select "Add key." Choose the key you want from the dropdown and click "Save." You'll see that immediately, a chord chart in that new key has already been added.
